Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Lab Executive with a strong background in ductile iron foundry operations. This role is essential in overseeing and conducting laboratory tests, analysing materials, and ensuring the highest quality standards for ductile iron production. The ideal candidate will have specific experience in ductile iron casting and a thorough understanding of quality testing and metallurgical analysis.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed chemical, physical, and metallurgical testing of ductile iron samples to ensure conformance with specified standards.
• Perform tensile strength, hardness, microstructure, and impact tests on iron samples to verify their mechanical properties.
• Implement and maintain quality control procedures specific to ductile iron production, ensuring consistency in product quality.
• Conduct regular inspections of raw materials, intermediate products, and final castings to confirm adherence to quality standards.
• Analyse test data to identify trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement in the production process.
• Collaborate with production and quality teams to provide technical support and recommendations for improving casting quality and reducing defects.
• Assist in developing and optimizing processes to achieve desired properties in ductile iron castings.
• Manage lab equipment, ensuring that testing instruments are calibrated and maintained for accurate and reliable results.
• Maintain detailed records of all tests, analyses, and results, following lab protocols and regulatory standards.
• Perform tests unique to ductile iron foundries, including nodularity testing, carbide structure analysis, and ferrite/pearlite ratio analysis.
• Oversee metallographic examinations to verify microstructures meet required specifications.
• Prepare detailed reports of lab findings, including data interpretations, trends, and actionable insights.
• Maintain clear documentation of testing procedures, results, and corrective actions for audit and quality compliance.

Requirements & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or a related field.
