Role Overview
The Melting Supervisor will oversee daily melting operations in a heavy manufacturing/foundry environment, ensuring efficient production, maintaining metal quality, and managing a team of operators. This role requires hands-on experience with induction furnaces, strong metallurgical knowledge of cast iron and ductile iron, and a commitment to safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily melting operations and ensure smooth production.
- Operate and monitor induction furnaces safely and efficiently.
- Maintain the required chemical composition and molten metal temperature.
- Prepare and monitor charge mix using scrap, pig iron, returns, and alloys.
- Coordinate with the Quality and Laboratory teams for metal testing.
- Reduce metal losses and improve furnace productivity.
- Ensure proper maintenance, housekeeping, and safety in the melting shop.
- Manage furnace operators and helpers and ensure shift-wise production targets are achieved.
- Maintain daily production and furnace records.
Requirements & Qualifications
Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical/Metallurgy or relevant experience in foundry.
